The final (or first!) East Neuk stop on the Fife Coastal Trail, Kingsbarns is a small village with a lot going on. Play golf on one of the world’s best courses, spend the day at an award-winning beach, discover a beautiful walled garden, tickle your tastebuds with a dram or three – and tuck into gourmet toasties!

In days gone by, grain was stored at Kingsbarns before being transported to the Royal Court at Falkland Palace, hence the name. Today, the Fife barley kept at Kingsbarns is put to another use – making whisky.

Kingsbarns Distillery produces award-winning whisky (and Darnley’s Gin) and its distillery tours includes the chance to sample its wares. If you prefer a G&T, Kingsbarns Distillery also offers gin tours.

Golf has been played at Kingsbarns since 1793 and Kingsbarns Golf Links is listed in the World’s Top 100 Golf Courses. The course, which welcomes visitors, regularly hosts major golf competitions, including the annual Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, which it co-hosts with St Andrews Old Course and Carnoustie.

For a relaxing afternoon surrounded by nature, visit Cambo Estate & Gardens with its glorious walled garden and peaceful woodland walks. Alternatively, head to Kingsbarns Beach, where there’s golden sand, shallow water, rock pools and mouth-wateringly good toasties at The Cheesy Toast Shack!
