After going around the outer edge of the military base at Leuchars, the Fife Coastal Path follows the shore to Tentsmuir National Nature Reserve. This exceptional nature reserve is an expanse of green forest bordered by golden sand, where seals bask in the sunshine and seabirds dive into the sea in search of their next meal, while in the pine trees, red squirrels dash from branch to branch.
As the path leaves the forest-lined beach, the view opens up across the River Tay and towards Tayport, Newport-on-Tay and the Tay Bridges, where this section of the Fife Coastal Path ends.
